On Wednesday 5/6/09 at about 3:oo pm  a local  pet store went on fire in the Pilsen community. I was at a friends house near the Nuevo Leon Restaurant when one of my friends told me that a building was on fire.   After hearing that, I grabbed my camera and started heading over there. Two local fire stations from the 12 district and 4th district department rushed to the fire.  Rosalina Perez and her son Julio had just opened the store for the day, but soon after a fire began in the back of the building (John Shernan from the Chicago Fire Dept told Fox News).

Except for the fish, no other animal was left behind.  Michael Molloy, a firefighter found a tarantula in the burning building which was left behind while transfering the pets to a safe location. The tarantula was fine and safe.  The firefighter has a soft spot for spiders. The Red-Cross helped the residents that lost all their belongings.  As far as the the animals, the owners have a second pet store for them.
