Chicago, IL On Friday, July 23, 2010 Gads Hill Center celebrated the recent citizenship of two of its community and the successful residency applications of two others.
Gads Hill Center has evolved from its initial job as a “Settlement House” in the late 1800’s where new immigrants came to gain a solid foothold in this land of freedom, into a family resource center with programs located in the Pilsen, Brighton Park and North Lawndale communities. Many of the people we serve, including our staff, are immigrants to this country who need additional support to provide educational and childcare opportunities for their families.
“We support our neighbors who have come to the United States with dreams of opportunity for their children, and are so pleased to honor those who have proven their commitment to this country by becoming citizens,” said Barbara Castellan, CEO of Gads Hill Center.
Immigrants can find information on citizenship and other support by contacting the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights. Their website is http://icirr.org
