Donate Your Dress

With your help, a girl can have a “head to toe” look that will make her prom night spectacular!

Each year, thousands of girls struggle to afford the expenses of prom. Did you know the average girl spends more than $250 on her dress? Not to mention the cost of shoes, accessories, limo, tickets and post-prom plans.

For some girls, this event is impossible.  Every girl deserves to go to prom. You can make that happen.

The Princess Closet has launched “1,000 Dresses – 1,000 Dreams,” a marathon from July 1, 2010 to March 31, 2011 to get a thousand dresses to make special young girl’s dreams come true. Donate your prom dress and help us reach our goal.

The Princess Closet

The Princess Closet idea came about when my daughter and her friend were looking for a dress for their prom and found themselves with limited resources. As a mother, I was crushed to see them demotivated and faced with a dilemma that could prevent them from attending such a memorable event.

The Princess Closet idea came to reality. Many wonderful women stepped up to the occasion and donated dresses for the girls when presented with their predicament. We were able to collect over 300 dresses, had 3 Dream Day Events and gave out about 250 dresses to any girl from any school in need.

Since then, the idea has taken off. We have begun a volunteer group that focuses on the collection of the formal dresses, gift bags of cosmetics, shoes, purses and accessories. We are also reaching out to the schools, churches to host a Dress Drive Day.  Most recently, we have partnered with Archer Cleaners, Modern Wave Salon, A CommonThread and District 7 Police Department and are now under the ministry of St. Pius Church.

Join the Marathon

We already have almost 250 dresses that have been donated for the marathon. If you are able to participate, please call me at 312-203-5392 to arrange a pick-up of your dress. Or visit out website, princess-closet.org/index.html, to see find a drop-off spot for your dress.

The Princess Closet is designed to promote confidence and self esteem in junior and senior high school girls. Every girl deserves to find the perfect dress for her "magical" prom night.
