Gads Hill Center New Horizons Students Visit Telemundo
Published: May 24, 2010
On April 9, 2010 participants in the Gads Hill Center mentorship program, New Horizons, had the exciting opportunity to experience the “real world” of working in a television studio. Telemundo Chicago invited the students to visit their studios to learn more about career possibilities in media and journalism. In addition to the thrill of being at the studio, the students had the opportunity to meet Reverend Jesse Jackson who was also at the studio that day.
This field trip was conducted as part of the New Horizons career exploration project where mentors and mentees discuss potential career paths and then visit different workplaces to see those careers in action. New Horizons is a mentoring program aimed to provide positive role models to at-risk middle school students in the Pilsen community.
