Pilsen Community Resident Edwin Gonzalez and Corporate Member Joan Newman Recognized at Gads Hill Center Legacy of Leaders Spring Gala

 

CHICAGO, IL - On Thursday, May 6 Gads Hill Center hosted its annual gala, Strengthening the Fabric of Families, A Legacy of Leaders at Galleria Marchetti on Chicago’s Erie Street.  Here, they honored two individuals who have demonstrated a passionate commitment to support the mission of Gads Hill.   Joan W. Newman, Partner and Head of Human Resources at financial firm Adams Street Partners and Edwin Gonzalez, a Gads Hill alum and a current group leader for GHC’s after school educational support program for 5-12 year olds.

Over 300 community leaders, corporate partners, Gads Hill alumni, current participants and supporters came together to raise over $65,000 and to celebrate the significant contributions of those who have made Gads Hill Center a thriving resource on Chicago’s southwest side. 

 

Event Co-Chairs Donnica Austin-Cathey of Sinai Health System and Dorinda Flores of Fifth Third Bank said, “This event honored the contributions of these awardees and celebrated the success of alumni who have participated in Gads Hill’s programs.”

Other alumni honored were:   Board Vice President Jorge Cazares, partner at Pugh Jones Johnson and Quandt; Dean J. Rosas, Executive Director, Proviso Township Mental Health Commission and Debra Paris, at Boeing.

Gads Hill Center, a family resource center established in 1898, serves low-income working families who want to make a better life for their children. Gads Hill Center provides families with a comprehensive support system, bringing about long-term, positive change to the community. Offerings encompass learning support and enrichment, and out-of-school care for children ages birth - 20.  The Center serves families in Chicago’s Pilsen, North Lawndale and Little Village who often lack educational and childcare resources.
