What's in the box? Christmas at El Hogar Del Nino.
This year, "Granting Joy at Christmas” at El Hogar Del Niño was a huge success. Each Christmas the organization brings gifts to the children it serves with the help of community members and local businesses, which held fundraisers and toy drives or donated money or toys.
Students from the UIC Medical Center volunteered to help wrap the 350 toys on Monday December 21, and the next day, 350 children came to the lunchroom to see Santa and receive a gift. There were educational toys like puzzles and board games, and age-appropriate gifts like dolls and action figures.
Volunteers wrapped the gifts.
El Hogar Del Niño offers the community early childhood education and after-school activities for children as well as family case management programs. The facility is located at 1710 S. Loomis.
Sponsors and community members who helped make this event possible are:
