In the mid of 1960's, Doña Maria began cooking her favorite recipes in a small eatery inside La Casa del Pueblo grocery store, located on Blue Isalnd Ave. in Pilsen, a South side neighborhood in Chicago, 15 minutes from the Loop and Medical Center. The restaurant did so well that it eventually expanded into a much larger space across the parking lot. Nowadays, her daughters, Marina and Martha, make sure that those original recipes are still prepared from scratch on a daily basis.

The loyal patrons of Taqueria La Casa del Pueblo are generations of local people who have grown up with the flavors of the Taqueria. A genuine neighborhood secret, this unique restaurant offers you the opportunity to see a variety of the dishes before you order. La Casa del Pueblo is open 365 days a year.
