I am one of a big wave of artists (many of whom I'm lucky to call friends) in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood on the city's south side. We're all working to make this world a more beautiful one.
My surroundings, whether it's a mural, a piece of furniture, or an abandoned building, continually inspire me. I was born in Mexico and moved to Chicago when I was six, and my Latino heritage influences my work. So does my late mother, Albertina Medina, who was an avid knitter and crocheter. I inherited some of her artistic skill, and I honor and remember her with my brand name, Anidem, which is her name spelled backwards.

Among my favorite materials are copper, brass, and silver and natural rocks. And found objects are especially intriguing because their beauty often isn't obvious at first glance. Through the years, my work has developed into a unique aesthetic, and many pieces are one of a kind. I hope they'll live for many years and be handed down to future generations. My jewelry is just one way for me to make a mark on the world.
