Cristo Rey Jesuit High School: School Nurse
Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, a Catholic college preparatory school located in the Pilsen neighborhood, is seeking a full-time school nurse. The school will consider Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, or Certified School Nurses. Preference will be given to candidates who speak Spanish.
School Nurse
The Cristo Rey Nurse functions as a Christian health resource and educator for CRJHS students, families and faculty. The primary purpose of the nurse is to promote wellness and prevent accidents and diseases among the students.
Duties:
- Provide Christian-based health education to CRJHS individuals and families.
- Educate CRJHS families about available community, state, and federal health resources including health insurance programs and primary care health clinics.
- Triage and care for acutely and chronically ill students.
- Maintain accurate student health records.
- Collaborate with the Athletic Department to maintain compliance with state and Illinois High School Association (IHSA) regulations.
- Teach several sections of freshman Health Education.
- Coordinate a community health fair.
- Collaborate with Mobile Care Asthma Foundation.
Communications and Relationships: The nurse communicates daily with CRJHS students, parents and the Registrar. The nurse works in collaboration with CRJHS’s counseling, work study program, discipline and teaching departments.
Requirements:
- Education: B.S.N., APN preferred with a minimum of three years experience.
- Licensure: Current RN license in State of Illinois, current CPR certification.
- Strong communication skills with a team oriented approach and proactive attitude.
- Proven success with project management.
- Willingness to learn and implement differentiated instruction techniques.
- Spanish language is not required, but advantageous.
